Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Bookkeeper/Cost Accountant for a 1-year contract covering maternity leave in Bedford, Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce, with 3+ years of bookkeeping experience and familiarity with cost accounting. Responsibilities include managing payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger reconciliations in a collaborative work environment.

Benefits

Monday–Thursday schedule (Friday optional)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Bookkeeping.
  • Over 1 year of experience in cost accounting.
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 Contractor considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll, including job costing.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Prepare journal entries as required.
  • Complete month-end and year-end closings.

Overview

Our client in Bedford, NS is seeking a Bookkeeper/Cost Accountant! This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to join a collaborative and respectful work environment, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial operations. This will be 1 year contract (mat leave coverage).

Responsibilities
  • Process weekly payroll, including job costing, T4s, ROEs, and tax table updates
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Perform inventory and general ledger reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries as required
  • Complete month-end and year-end closings
  • File statutory remittances (Source Deductions, HST, WCB, Corporate Tax)
  • Administer benefit filings across multiple plans
  • Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with auditors
  • Support additional financial and administrative tasks as directed by the Owner
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce (Accounting Major preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Bookkeeping and over 1 year in cost accounting
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 Contractor considered a strong asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe)
  • Experience in a SQL network environment
