The Communications Assistant supports CCHC’s strategic goals by assisting in the planning, development and implementation of communication activities. Working closely with the Communications Officer and under the supervision of the Corporate Services Director, the Assistant helps ensure that communication initiatives are aligned with CCHC’s values, branding, and strategic objectives. From media relations to social media to advocacy support, this position contributes to achieving measurable communication goals.

Minimum three years of experience in a position in the not-for-profit sector (or a demonstrated understanding of the sector through volunteering) with a focus on communications, public relations, professional writing, or equivalent work-related duties.
College diploma or equivalent in business, communications, marketing, public relations or a related discipline from a recognized college.
Excellent communications skills — written and spoken in both English and French.
Knowledge of graphic design fundamentals and how to produce communications products suitable for both print and electronic environments for diverse audiences.
Ability to use graphic design software /platform (e.g., Canva, Hootsuite)
Proficient with workplace software programs including Microsoft Office suite
Demonstrated flexibility and effectiveness within a rapidly changing environment, short deadlines and multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in an inter-professional team environment.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Demonstrated respect and value for the diversity of the community and individuals
Understanding of local and provincial governments’ role in health and social services.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
