About Futurpreneur Canada

Futurpreneur is a national non-profit organization that empowers diverse entrepreneurs, ages 18-39 to start, buy and grow their businesses in Canada, by providing loans with mentorship and resources.

Founded in 1996, we have helped more than 20,000 young entrepreneurs launch over 15,600 businesses, promoting entrepreneurship among Canadian youth as a critical pillar for strengthening the economy while generating employment opportunities, and fostering a sustainable future.

Futurpreneur is a founding member of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance, the Canadian founding member of Youth Business International and the Canadian host of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).

Our Purpose (why we exist): To drive inclusive Canadian prosperity by fostering the success of young entrepreneurs

Our Mission (what we do every day to achieve our purpose): To empower diverse entrepreneurs ages 18-39 by providing loans with mentorship and resources, enabling them to start or buy successful businesses that contribute to sustainable, inclusive economic prosperity in communities across Canada.

Our Values (how we work – our core principles & commitments): We are mission-driven, collegial & collaborative, diverse & inclusive, and accountable & transparent.

The Opportunity

Bilingual Communications and Content Manager

If you thrive on spotlighting the determination, heart and ambition of young entrepreneurs and mentors, and know how to amplify their stories across social, earned and owned media, this is the role for you.

The Bilingual Communications and Content Manager is responsible for co-developing the strategy and producing all content delivered by Futurpreneur’s Marketing and Communications team, both internally and in collaboration with vendors. You are the main guardian of our brand voice in English and French, and a key driver of an always-on content engine that is timely, culturally fluent and built to perform.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, you will manage Futurpreneur’s bilingual content and editorial calendar, including planning and development, storytelling, design and translation. This includes managing content on the Futurpreneur website and blog, social media, email marketing, print collateral and marketing campaigns. In addition, you will lead bilingual communications for the organization, managing the strategy and execution of Futurpreneur’s communications, brand voice and key messaging, developing press releases and speaker notes, and generating/pitching compelling ideas that secure earned media coverage across our ecosystem.

This role requires equal parts creativity and exceptional attention to detail. You have a keen sense of the Canadian communications and PR landscape and understand what is resonating right now and what is on the horizon. You know how to make content feel native to each platform and audience without chasing trends that do not fit the brand. You are also a strong people leader: you coach with compassion, set clear expectations and help others do the best work of their careers.

As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, you will work closely with internal teams and vendors, always with a focus on supporting stakeholders to achieve our organizational goals, from recruiting entrepreneurs and mentors to supporting our community through storytelling and amplifying our partnerships (both corporate and governmental). You will manage direct reports and relationships with internal subject matter experts and third-party agencies, freelance writers, translators, photographers and videographers. To you, creating bilingual content is more than translation at the end of a production line: you think user-first throughout the entire process, from conception and planning through delivery.

This existing role is a permanent, full-time position located in Toronto, ON or Montreal, QC. The incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 2 days in-office per week.

What you will do

Strategy

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications to research and develop personas and a strategic roadmap for our channels (website & blog, email, social, partnerships, influencers and paid).
  • Set the standard for bilingual communications and content: how we show up, what we say, how we say it, and how it lands in English and French.
  • Adapt our messaging to address market changes and the evolving needs of our audience.
  • Create and maintain our editorial calendar to ensure consistency, frequency and quality across always-on and campaign deliverables.
  • Refine Futurpreneur’s tone, voice and style guide and socialize our approach to ensure consistent implementation in both official languages.
  • Keep a pulse on culture, media and platform shifts in Canada and translate insights into clear recommendations and content choices.

Content & Communications

  • Lead content creation and amplification across a wide range of platforms, formats and styles, ensuring work is sharp, accurate, on-brand and delivered on time.
  • Write and produce standout stories and marketing materials that inspire our community and build trust, including but not limited to: organic and paid social and search content, blog posts, web copy, email copy and customer journeys, print materials (e.g., one-pagers, flyers, retractable banners), video scripts and more.
  • Own bilingual storytelling end to end, including editorial direction, writing, editing, translation and final approvals, with cultural fluency and attention to detail.
  • Ensure delivery of appropriate content formats, styles, and messaging to meet project briefs and achieve objectives.
  • Coordinate with team members and vendors to meet deadlines and project deliveries, removing barriers, tightening workflows and ensuring accountability.
  • Strengthen Futurpreneur’s PR and communications execution, including drafting press releases, media materials, and spokesperson notes and supporting influencer and media outreach.
  • Leverage testing, data collection and analysis to identify trends and improve performance across search, social and email.
  • Provide reporting insights to assess the performance and continual improvement of always-on, campaign and ad hoc content initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager on content and SEO/GEO priorities for our website and on paid campaigns.
  • Optimize the content creation workflow and marketing tech stack for effective and timely reviewing, editing, approvals and publishing.

Leadership, Coaching and Team Management

  • Manage, coach, and develop the content and communications team (social media and coordination) as well as the work of third-party agencies and freelancers to achieve optimal performance.
  • Contribute to building a positive team culture aligned to organizational vision, values and strategic priorities, including our diversity & inclusion commitments.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, partners and community stakeholders to support entrepreneurship development initiatives, ensure adoption of our strategic roadmap and socialize key communications tools (e.g., tone and manner, brand and style guidelines).
  • Ensure that all marketing and communication materials are consistent, accurate and comply with corporate branding and messaging guidelines, and are compliant (e.g., CASL) with appropriate partner, mentor and/or client consent and attribution.

What you will bring

  • Relevant experience may include education and/or equivalent hands-on career experience in Communications, Content Marketing, Advertising, PR, Journalism and/or Business
  • 8+ years of experience, with exceptional content creation and writing skills and a demonstrated track record of success across multiple channels
  • Exceptional English communications and writing ability
  • Fully bilingual in English and French (written and verbal), with the ability to adapt voice and meaning with cultural fluency in both languages. You will be required to work on a daily basis with non-bilingual team members and/or clients across Canada and at Head office in Toronto.
  • 2-3 years of people leadership and vendor management experience, with demonstrated confidence sourcing, assigning, writing, editing and managing content development from concept to launch
  • Strong knowledge of the communications and PR landscape in Canada, including how to generate, package and pitch stories for earned media and influencer amplification
  • Experience producing content for Meta (Facebook & Instagram), LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube and/or TikTok, with an understanding of how each platform can be optimized
  • Ability to manage and produce high-quality work in a fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders, shifting priorities and tight timelines
  • Experience creating and/or managing promotional materials and deploying press releases for regional and national marketing campaigns
  • Keen editorial judgement, attention to detail and a high standard that shows up in every deliverable
  • Strong network and sense of purpose, entrepreneurial mentality and/or lived experience working with entrepreneurs and community organizations
  • Experience speaking to a Gen Z and/or Millennial audience in a B2B or entrepreneurial context would be valuable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and commitment to resolve issues with a positive outcome
  • Experience with WordPress CMS and Microsoft Dynamics CRM considered a plus
  • Experience using platforms and tools for organic or paid search and social is an advantage (Google Search Console, SEMRush, SEO Yoast, Google AdWords, Meta/Facebook Ads Manager, GA4)
  • Public, not for profit and/or finance sector experience would be an asset
  • Alignment with Futurpreneur’s values and commitment to the mission/purpose of the organization
  • Be a role model for Futurpreneur’s organizational culture by creating a positive impact at every touchpoint with people
