An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist – Histology Team to join a well-established Histology service within HSSL in Sutton. This ongoing full-time locum role offers an excellent hourly rate of £24 and provides valuable experience within a busy diagnostic histopathology laboratory.
This role is ideal for a motivated Biomedical Scientist looking to develop their skills in histology while contributing to high-quality patient diagnostics in a supportive and professional environment.

Work collaboratively within the Histopathology laboratory team to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.
Carry out routine histological techniques and laboratory processes under supervision of senior staff.
Participate in all technical and scientific aspects of histology work in line with standard operating procedures.
Receive, accession, and accurately log specimens, ensuring full traceability.
Perform specimen processing including fixation, embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining.
Prepare tissue sections, mount slides, and assist with special stains and immunohistochemistry as required.
Maintain laboratory equipment and support quality control processes.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, governance, and quality standards, including ISO and HTA requirements.
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
Experience working in a histology / histopathology laboratory.
Knowledge of histological techniques and laboratory workflows.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Experience in special stains and/or immunohistochemistry.
Previous NHS or UK laboratory experience.
