Overview

Avionics Technician (AME-E) – Ottawa, Ontario. Reference number: RCM24J-060295-000256. Selection process number: 24-RCM-EA-N-S-NCR-TO-132464. Royal Canadian Mounted Police - Technical Operations.

Location: Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport. In-person presence required; hybrid work is not an option.

Duties
  • Performing the scheduled and unscheduled avionics and mission systems related maintenance, inspection and repair of fixed- and/or rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Performing avionics installation.
  • Completing all aircraft technical records and maintenance releases.
  • Other duties related to the position.
Work environment

The RCMP Air Services is a national program providing airborne law enforcement. The unit employs pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, flight coordinators and tactical flight officers across multiple locations.

Qualifications (essential)
  • Secondary school diploma; and
  • Completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or the employer-approved alternative (including degree equivalency or a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license with E rating, or a TC license with M1 and M2 ratings).
  • Significant experience as an E-licensed avionics technician (typically around 3 years).
  • Experience in installing and maintaining avionics systems on aircraft or maintaining avionics components on the bench.
  • Experience with troubleshooting avionics using computer interfaces, and with maintenance tracking/recording software; experience in wiring diagram design or generation is an asset.
  • English language required.

  • Knowledge of avionics system maintenance and repair techniques; Canadian Aviation Regulations and Quality Assurance programs; ability to work independently and in a team; ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems; effective communication skills; planning and organizing; willingness to learn; initiative; leadership.
Conditions of employment
  • Enhanced Reliability Status with Top Secret security clearance; a valid driver’s license; and a valid Transport Canada AME license (E rating) or combined M1/M2 ratings.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods and meet medical profile standards as required.
