Job summary

A local auto service company in Medicine Hat, Alberta is seeking an Auto Body Prepper. You will be responsible for preparing vehicle bodies for paint, ensuring a clean and safe workshop. Ideal candidates should have experience in body preparation, a valid driver's license, and strong organizational skills. Compensation starts at $25/hour with benefits after 90 days including vacation and possible relocation assistance.

Qualifications

  • MUST have Painter/Prepper Experience.
  • NICE TO HAVE I-CAR training.
  • MUST have a valid drivers' license.
  • NICE TO HAVE Autobody Journeyman tickets or 2nd-year Apprentice or higher.
  • ABLE TO be organized and keep the shop presentable.
  • ABLE TO review damage reports.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicle bodies for paint.
  • Ensure a clean, safe workshop environment.
  • Manage daily workload.
  • Replace front-end body components and repair surfaces.

Requirements
  • MUST have Painter/Prepper Experience
  • NICE TO HAVE I‑CAR training
  • MUST have a valid drivers' license
  • NICE TO HAVE Autobody Journeyman tickets or 2nd‑year Apprentice or higher
  • NICE TO HAVE Strong Customer Service Skills
  • ABLE TO be organized and keep the shop presentable
  • ABLE TO review damage reports
  • ABLE TO manage daily workload
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to replace front‑end body components, doors, frame and underbody components
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to file, grind and sand body surfaces for repair
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to hammer out dents, buckles and defects using blocks and hammers
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to remove damaged fenders, panels and grills
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to weld replacement parts
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to apply primers and repaint surfaces
  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE to repair or replace interior components
Pay
  • Expect to earn: $25/hour
  • Benefits (after 90 days)
  • 2 weeks vacation after 1 year
  • Relocation assistance may be available
