Position Summary:
As an AV Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering professional-grade AV installations across commercial, educational, and institutional projects. You’ll be responsible for implementing systems that combine sound, video, control, and connectivity into seamless, reliable experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, test, and commission AV systems including displays, projectors, video walls, sound reinforcement, microphones, and control systems.
- Pull, terminate, label, and test structured cabling (Cat6, speaker wire, HDMI, etc.) according to industry standards.
- Configure and verify system performance including audio tuning, video alignment, and network connectivity.
- Read and interpret AV drawings, schematics, and signal flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure smooth coordination on site.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and connectivity issues during installation and service.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, with a focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Support end-user training and system hand-over when required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to be security cleared to Secret Level II
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial AV installation or service.
- Strong understanding of AV signal flow, control systems, and networked AV fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient with hand and power tools and comfortable working on active construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills.
Assets:
- Experience with Biamp, Crestron, Barco, and other major AV platforms (Extron, QSC, Shure, etc.) is a strong asset.
- CTS or CTS-I certification.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
- Working-at-heights, scissor-lift, or WHMIS certification.
Work Environment:
- Field-based role; work on active construction and retrofit sites.
- May involve moderate lifting and working at heights.
- Flexible schedule required based on project timelines.
