Overview

Job Summary: Solid Sound Reinforcement (SSR) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Audio Visual Technician to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in AV systems, alongside strong experience in event production, logistics coordination, and staff management. You will play a key role in the delivery of corporate events, festivals, and digital content production throughout the territory and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain audio, video, lighting, and broadcast systems for live and recorded events.
  • Manage technical crews and supervise junior technicians during productions.
  • Coordinate equipment logistics, transport, rigging, and scheduling for projects.
  • Maintain inventory and service schedules for AV gear.
  • Collaborate with clients, producers, and creative teams to fulfill technical needs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and network-based control systems under pressure.
  • Ensure safe operation and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to AV and production staff.
  • Support video recording, streaming, and post-production when required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in Audio Visual Technology, Broadcast Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in professional AV production.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Experience with production logistics (transportation, rigging, planning).
  • Strong working knowledge of digital audio consoles (e.g., Digico, Allen & Heath), projection, LED walls, and Dante / AV-over-IP systems.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and operate lifts or rigging systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license required (Class 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset).
  • Experience in remote or northern settings is an asset.
