We are seeking motivated individuals to join our Materials Technology Team as an Assistant Technician. In this role, you will assist materials engineers in evaluating materials and developing machinery and processes to manufacture materials for products that meet specific design and performance criteria.

The position is based at our Peterborough location, working alongside enthusiastic technicians and under the supervision of civil and geotechnical engineering professionals.

This is an entry-level contract position, with potential for intermediate and senior roles depending on experience and certifications. Full-time opportunities depend on availability and seasonal demands.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Extract relevant data and input into spreadsheets or standard formats.
  • Solutions Analysis: Find effective responses to routine inquiries, following established procedures.
  • Engineering Drawings: Assist in creating engineering drawings under guidance.
  • Plant and Machinery Design and Installation: Support the installation of plant and machinery to meet design and operational standards.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop technical skills through training and coaching.
  • Testing: Assist in developing testing standards and procedures.
  • Operational Compliance: Understand and adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Product and Solution Development: Support product development activities and data analysis.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Help identify and diagnose equipment issues.

Education

  • College diploma in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction.

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • CCIL certification or ACI Level 1 and 2 certifications are assets.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work nights if required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
