Who We Are

Woodcraft Rangers opened its doors in 1922 in Los Angeles with a mission to guide young people toward purposeful lives. Woodcraft is inclusive, youth-led, and rooted in the Woodcraft Way, a holistic framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. We expand learning opportunities and serve 20,000+ youth ages 4-18 annually in 110+ Title I schools in LA County.

Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment and summer learning. We offer early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with disabilities, plus Lifecraft for college and career advancement, supporting ~1,000 staff.

Job Summary

Assistant Site Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Site Coordinator in overseeing all on-site logistics, with emphasis on administrative responsibilities. The position supports the on-site team to deliver impactful and engaging after school enrichment experiences. Leads daily meal logistics, field trip logistics, and events. Serves as the primary contact for communication with parents, community members, administration, and staff.

The Assistant Site Coordinator position is on-site, including training at the Woodcraft Rangers main office in Little Tokyo and at school sites.

Role Overview
  • Ensure students are in a safe environment (physically and emotionally). Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for participants, staff, families.
  • In collaboration with the Site Coordinator, support the on-site team to perform duties and deliver high-quality programs and customer service.
  • Coordinate snacks and meals with the food services vendor and provide related training to the WR team; submit required documentation to the vendor.
  • Implement site protocols, safety regulations, WR procedures and policies.
  • Oversee and track compliance requirements; ensure documentation is accurate and timely (attendance records, program surveys, cycle reports).
  • Comply with safety requirements and emergency protocols; maintain up-to-date training and certifications.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with participants, families, site personnel, and colleagues.
  • Support development and planning of culminating or end-of-week activities and events highlighting participants’ work.
  • May attend off-site field trips if the Site Coordinator is unavailable.
  • Participate in staff development trainings as required, approximately 30 hours over spring weekends/intersessional days.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

Ideally, we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, energetic, ambitious, proactive, and positive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Multi-tasking and attention to detail are strengths. Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of staff and peers during in-person training.

  • 6 months of experience supervising or leading a team and/or a group of children in a school recreational setting OR 6 units in child development
  • Ability to use smartphone for work; WR provides Wi-Fi/cell stipend
  • Must successfully pass an assessment test evaluating skills in math, reading comprehension, and spelling
