Whistler Independent Supported Housing (WISH) Society is seeking an Assistant Executive Director to serve as the administrative & operations lead, supporting the organization’s growth and day-to-day operations during this critical phase of development.

Reporting to the Board of Directors (and working closely with the Board Chair), this role serves as the operational backbone of the organization, balancing administration, communications, fundraising support, and organizational systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, values-driven self-starter who is passionate about the non-profit sector and interested in growing into senior leadership over time.

About the Role, Benefits & Perks:
  • Part‑time, year round.
  • $35–40 per hour based on experience.
  • Approx 40–80 hours per month with flexibility.
  • Work Environment: At home office or suitable workspace.
  • Reporting regularly to a Board‑designated lead.
The Perfect Candidate:
  • 1–3 years of administrative or coordination experience; non‑profit or community sector experience is a strong asset.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive); Microsoft Office experience also valued.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and discretion with confidential information.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and strong self‑starter qualities.
  • Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems is an asset.

  • Education: High school diploma required; post‑secondary education in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities Include:

Organizational & Administrative Leadership

  • Act as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day organizational communications.
  • Coordinate Board and committee meetings, including scheduling, agendas, materials, and follow‑up.
  • Record and distribute accurate meeting minutes and maintain official corporate records.
  • Maintain and improve internal administrative systems and workflows.

Communications & Engagement

  • Draft and manage professional correspondence, newsletters, updates, and briefing materials.
  • Create social media content, support website updates, and community communications.
  • Assist with presentations and materials for funders, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Support engagement with donors, families, partners, and community members.

Fundraising, Donor & Event Support

  • Assist with donor database management and donation processing.irect; support fundraising initiatives, special events, and community gatherings.
  • Assist with grant applications, reporting requirements, and funding documentation.

Data, Records & Reporting

  • Maintain contact databases, mailing lists, and electronic filing systems.
  • Support version control, cloud‑based file management, and data security.
  • Assist with reporting and documentation for strategic planning and fundraising.
  • Support compliance, transparency, and audit readiness documents.

Board & Strategic Support

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to Board committees as needed.
  • Assist with the implementation of Board‑approved plans, policies, and priorities.
  • Support coordination with government, funders, and project partners.

Whistler Independent Supported Housing Society (WISH) is a registered Canadian charity founded in 2019 by local Whistler families and community members. WISH is dedicated to creating inclusive, independent, and supportive housing for adults with developmental disabilities, so individuals can continue to live with dignity, stability, and a sense of belonging in their home community.

In 2025, WISH signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Whistler Sports Legacies (WSL) for 10 residential units and a shared common room within a new six‑storey, 110‑unit affordable rental housing building at 1080 Legacy Way in Cheakamus Crossing. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026, with occupancy planned for Fall 2028.
