Job Description

Techo‑Bloc is looking for an Assistant Controller II who is motivated to grow into a financial controller role. Working closely with the finance team, you will support the preparation of financial information, assist operational teams, and contribute to various continuous improvement projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop key corporate finance and analytical skills. This is a highly visible role designed for a professional who thrives on turning financial data into business insight and action.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Operational Support
  • Assist with financial analysis including inventory, sales, costs, margins, and variances.
  • Review spending trends and financial variations to identify anomalies or improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to understand business activities and their financial impacts.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with operations managers and contribute data‑driven insights.
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
  • Assist the Controller in preparing and analyzing monthly/annual financial statements and accompanying notes.
  • Participate in month‑end and year‑end close, including support for external auditors.
  • Track and reconcile fixed assets.
  • Monitor and maintain prepaid expenses, current receivables, and monthly payments.
  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare supporting documentation.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the preparation of the annual budget in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Assist with the collection, validation, and analysis of data required for periodic forecasts.
  • Participate in tracking budget assumptions and variances.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
  • Contribute to the improvement of financial tools and processes, including those related to the ERP.
  • Participate in testing, validating, and optimizing ERP reports.
  • Help automate tasks to increase efficiency and accuracy of financial information.
Special Projects & Professional Development
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects in collaboration with finance, operations, and administrative teams.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new initiatives or tools aimed at optimizing financial performance.
  • Gradually develop a comprehensive understanding of controller responsibilities within the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial process improvement, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query).
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft AX, D365, SAP).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Bilingual (French/English) preferred.
