Job summary

A construction management firm based in Markham is hiring a Construction Manager for a permanent, full-time position. Responsibilities include preparing budget estimates, planning and managing construction schedules, negotiating contracts, and supervising subcontractors. Candidates should have a degree in civil engineering or related field with at least one year of supervisory experience. Reference wage is $48.10 per hour with a workload of 30 hours weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control.
  • Select trade subcontractors and co-ordinate their activities.
  • Plan and manage budgets.
  • Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations.
  • Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers.
  • Hire and supervise activities of subcontractors.

Education

University degree or college diploma in civil engineering, construction technology, architecture, architectural technology or in a related field
At least one year of work experience as a construction manager, assistant manager or construction supervisor
