Job Description

We are currently hiring multiple Assemblers for our Manufacturing and Operations team.

  • Assemble, rework and operate electronic and electromechanical equipment from detailed procedures, assembly drawings and manufacturing instructions (for product and equipment of a simple to medium complexity)
  • Follow detailed assembly documentation (Drawings & Parts Lists) and instructions (Assembly Mfg Instructions & Process Routing Sheets) to perform assigned assembly tasks.
  • Complete “buddy checks” as part of the quality control process.
  • Adhere to workmanship standards & procedures to produce quality products. Responsible to record and report quality data in company standard quality tracking systems.
  • Be accountable for completion of work orders on time.
  • Complete assigned tasks within expected productivity outputs.
  • Communicate, prioritize & multitask to achieve team goals.
Qualifications
  • Equivalent to a Grade 12 level of education at an Ontario Secondary school.
  • Over 1 year up to and including 2 years of experience.
Complexity
  • Basic computer skills to enter, locate and retrieve data and/or documentation.
  • Work is structured and somewhat routine.
  • Demonstrates capability to perform a minimum of one assembly discipline (Mechanical, CCA or Harnesses) of a simple to medium complexity, while meeting qualify standards and defined productivity output.
  • Expected to manage irregularities and work with the manufacturing support staff in resolution of irregularities of a more complex nature.

  • Work is assigned by others.
  • Identifies and reports on issues impacting their assigned tasks when they occur. Works with others to implement solutions.
  • Provides information, as required, to others pertinent to problem resolution.
  • Accountable for quality of own work and ensuring buddy checks occur.

  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize & multitask within the team to achieve team goals.
  • Flexible to move within teams and roles, as required, to support overall company objectives.
  • Use weekly dispatch reports to manage priorities of assigned work, ensuring W/O’s are completed within schedule.
  • Follow required documentation at all times to perform assigned tasks.
  • Complete assigned tasks within allocated budget.
Communication and Guidance Giving
  • Communicates effectively (verbal/written) with team members, support groups & internal customers.
  • Participates and supports the team to continuously improve team goals.
  • Effectively work in a team environment to achieve team goals.
  • Requirement to show others how to perform simple to medium complex tasks.
  • Voice concerns and report on issues impacting W/O completion dates.
Effort and Working Environment
Physical Effort
  • Minimal physical exertion. Work performed primarily in a sitting/forward leaning position, with occasional movement around a workplace.
  • Moderate lifting of low weight items, with limited requirement to lift items of considerable weight. Prolonged periods of work requiring focus and concentration.
Sensory Effort
  • May be required to work through a microscope for up to extended periods of time. Dexterity and visual acuity required for fine/precise electronic assembly.
Working Environment
  • Some isolation while in production; limited exposure to chemicals, fumes, dust and noise; some repetition; moderate interruptions and occasional high volumes/multiple and tight deadlines.
Security

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
