Job description
Overview

The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is seeking an Anesthesiologist to fill a vacancy within the department. The hospital has an accredited level 3 trauma unit and the Intensive Care Unit is an integral part of this. The Northern Simulation Centre is housed within the Hospital and is an opportunity for those wishing to get involved in Sim-Lab. Join our robust team of 11 Anesthesiologists and regular locums!

Responsibilities
  • Provide anesthetic services to a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery (including Whipple's procedure and Esophagectomy), urology, orthopaedic, plastic, ENT, obstetrics & gynecology, ophthalmology, and vascular surgery.
  • Support 24-hour epidural service and participate in intraoperative and perioperative anesthesia management as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Engage in the on-call schedule with an approximate commitment of 1 in 8.
  • Collaborate with the Northern Simulation Centre and opportunities to get involved in Sim-Lab training and simulation activities.
  • Work within an Alternative Payment arrangement with an estimated base remuneration for a full-time Anesthetist of approximately $500,000. The current expectation for a full-time, 1.0 FTE Anesthetist is 1997 hours per annum.

  • Conservative base remuneration for a full-time Anesthetist: approximately $500,000.
  • Full-time expectation: 1997 hours per annum (1.0 FTE).

UHNBC is the regional hospital for Northern BC, serving Prince George (approximately 100,000) and acting as a referral center for outlying communities (total population approximately 400,000). It is the main teaching center for medical students in the Northern Medical Program of UBC and provides teaching for UBC Residents in several specialties. The BC Cancer Centre for the North is on the hospital site and includes radiation and medical oncology services.
