A leading financial services company in Quebec seeks an entry-level Analyst for the Investment Performance & Analytics team. Responsibilities include maintaining data quality in investment portfolios and conducting analysis to support various teams. Required qualifications include an undergraduate degree in Finance or a related field and willingness to pursue certifications. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingualism is preferred.
The Investment Performance & Analytics (IP&A) team conducts thorough analysis and analytical review of investment performance, attribution, characteristics, and risk results across various investment strategies to support the front office, product specialists, risk, and reporting teams.
The Analyst role is an entry-level position that is responsible for maintaining the quality and accuracy of investment portfolio data within multiple performance, attribution, and risk systems. The role requires knowledge of investment accounting principles, financial markets, financial instruments, and an intellectual curiosity in investment performance, attribution, risk, and analytics. The opportunity is for a proactive, motivated, and self-taught person who wants to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. The candidate must be innovative, collaborative, and highly detailed oriented.
Supports the systems Start-of-Day (SOD) processes by performing control tolerance checks and data reconciliation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information being used to calculate investment performance, attribution, characteristics, and risk results.
Effectively identify and raise issues using proper escalation process for prompt resolution.
Identify, research, and resolve investment performance data breaks.
Perform and review data quality dashboards using Power BI.
Review and refine existing controls/procedures to continuously improve the quality and ensure clear and concise documentation is created and maintained.
Interact with appropriate individuals/groups to resolve errors as necessary.
Participate and/or lead projects as assigned.
Undergraduate degree in Finance or a business-related field.
Enrolled or willing to pursue the CIPM and/or CFA designation.
1-3 years of asset management industry experience.
Analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
Experience working in an environment where controls and daily deadlines are required.
Familiar with systems such as SS&C Sylvan, FactSet, Bloomberg, MSCI, and Morningstar Direct.
Familiar with investment accounting principles, performance measurement methodologies, risk statistics, and attribution models.
Experience with data analytics and data visualization (Microsoft Power BI).
Comfortable in learning new technologies and working in a changing environment.
Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment with diverse approaches and thinking styles.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.
