Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (15 hrs a week max)

Time: 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Job Brief

We are looking for an After School Program Counselor to supervise young children and ensure they learn and have fun. Our after-school program consists of 120 children, divided by age groups.

Responsibilities
  • Leading recreational and educational activities
  • Ensuring equipment is used correctly
  • Taking attendance
  • Facilitating activities
  • Free play
  • Keeping track of attendance during pick up
  • Cleaning up at the end of the day
  • Planning games, educating children and teenagers, and setting up equipment
  • Plan indoor and outdoor activities or sports for groups of children
  • Create weekly or daily schedules taking into account children's age groups and interests
  • Lead recreational and educational activities
  • Escort and oversee children
  • Educate campers through games and explorations
  • Set up and maintain equipment
  • Resolve occasional fights between children and address behavioral issues
  • Make sure all safety rules are followed
  • Ensure the site is clean
  • Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
  • Keep accurate incident and behaviour logs
Qualifications
  • Able to commit to 3 shifts a week
  • CPR and First Aid training
  • Vulnerable sector check
  • 1 year of experience working with children
