ABOUT THE ROLE

The Addiction Worker is responsible for assisting in the delivery of treatment services for clients of Adult Addiction & Problem Gambling Programs. Key responsibilities include: providing information and direct enquiries for services, supporting and monitoring clients through entry and engagement in the continuum of treatment services (pre, post, live-in treatment and aftercare supports), the facilitation of group activities, and ensuring the maintenance of security and upkeep of the facility and program resources.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education / Experience :

  • Minimum of a two-year Diploma in Social Services or Addictions field
  • Minimum of one year experience working with Adult Addiction clients in a congregate setting or community-based programs

Skills / Abilities :

  • Working knowledge of addiction issues, crisis management and conflict resolution skills
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of substance abuse and / or problem gambling
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Asset :

  • Knowledge of working with DBT, CBT framework is an asset

Conditions of Employment :

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
