Overview

Lakeland Living is seeking a Controller-Accountant to manage the financial operations of its developments and related corporate entities. Lakeland has eight corporate entities under its umbrella. This senior, hands-on role reports directly to the CEO and involves working closely with the entire Lakeland Living team. The position will initially be part-time (2.5 to 3 days per week) and home-based, transitioning to a full-time hybrid role within 15 to 18 months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and execute accounting and financial management activities, including payables, receivables, year-end close, strategy, and budgeting.
  • Manage intercompany full-cycle reporting, accruals, adjustments, and complex transactions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to support business operations and financing.
  • Solve accounting issues proactively and provide clarity on financial matters.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, management team, and operating personnel to drive business success.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in accounting, reporting, and advisory roles. CPA preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing financial systems and complex transactions.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks (QB), Sage, and Yardi; QB and Sage are most important at this time.
  • Strong communication skills to explain financial results and implications.
  • Ability to balance structure and flexibility in a fast-paced, close-knit environment.
  • Service-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
