Overview

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Oshawa Elevation Centre three times per week, at minimum [depending on stakeholder needs].

The Role

As a co-op student on the Product and Portfolio Planning Team, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the execution and coordination of program strategy and vehicle planning initiatives at General Motors Canada. This role is ideal for a student who is technically oriented, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work cross functionally across finance, product and business planning, engineering, brand quality, distribution & vehicle sales and marketing to achieve enterprise results
  • Assess market opportunities to optimize vehicle positioning
  • In conjunction with the long- and short-term forecast team and the brand teams support volume and market share forecasts for future vehicle programs
  • Support the product planning team with program gate milestone reviews in parallel with the finance and brand teams
  • Perform analysis reviews during program lifecycle for model mix and option penetration planning
  • Support the product planning team with order workbench and vehicle order guide readiness and compliance
  • Support the product and finance teams for all customer facing literature and program content accuracy including website, media releases
  • Support the product team with new program milestones (New, Major)
  • Attend and support in functional meetings with Canada and Global product boards
  • Help maintain and update data dashboards and reports using tools like Excel or Power BI
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Planning and execution skills combined with a technical aptitude
  • Understanding of the automotive industry and integrating consumer insights into product strategies
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks with guidance
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and simultaneous projects
  • Build strong relationships at all levels of the company and external partners
  • Product management and marketing experience valued
  • Ability to work with large data sets and provide concise recommendations based on analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Power BI, AI tools, Tableau is a plus
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program or in 3rd or 4th year of study in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • Automotive industry knowledge is considered an asset
