Position Overview

Under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager, the Child & Youth Counsellor will ensure the current developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of children, youth, and families are met by actively participating in the provision of assessment and treatment.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide case management and counselling services for children, youth, and families that are consistent with the philosophy, approach, goals and learning environment established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care which will ensure the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children, youth, and families.

The Child & Youth Counsellor is responsible for the coordination of integrated services delivery from the point of assessment to discharge for all assigned children, youth, and families receiving agency service.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • A minimum HBSW is required or a related degree.
  • Two or more years experience in the provision of counselling services to Anishinabek children, youth, and their families is preferred. Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as determined by the Counselling and Clinical Support Services Manager in relation to service requirements.
  • Must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended.
  • Able to complete and maintain certification in CANS and other relevant Ministry of Children and Youth Services initiatives.

Hours of Work: 32.5 weekly
