A healthcare organization in Alberta seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist I in Claresholm. Responsibilities include processing and analyzing diagnostic samples and performing specialized lab procedures. Candidates must complete an accredited MLT program and be eligible for registration with the CMLTA. This position offers part-time temporary employment with shifts including days, evenings, and weekends. Competitive salary range from $35.45 to $46.69 per hour.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team this position is responsible for working day and evening shifts on both weekdays and weekends. Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor or Manager, and under the direction of the Claresholm Medical Laboratory Technologist II, the MLT will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying the regional policies and procedures. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to highly complex procedures and activities within the laboratory department. Employees shall maintain confidentiality of all APL / AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with APL / AHS’s information privacy and information security policies.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Experience working in core laboratory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen procurement and handling, and transfusion medicine. Experience in phlebotomy. Experience using Microsoft programs.
Minimum 1 year experience as a MLT or CLXT within Rural Zone laboratory is an asset.
