By designing scalable data pipelines, models, and warehouse architectures, we lay the groundwork for a truly data-driven organization.

About the Role

DoorDash is seeking a Data Engineer to architect and lead the development of our next-generation data infrastructure and BI platform. In this role, you'll define the technical vision for large-scale data systems, partner closely with cross-functional teams, and ensure our platforms support the velocity and complexity of a rapidly growing business. You’ll play a critical role in scaling our data engineering practices and mentoring others across the organization.

  • Lead the design and development of a scalable, high-performance data and BI platform that serves tens of thousands of simultaneous users
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand evolving data needs and define long-term technical solutions
  • Drive strategic initiatives around AI, data quality, observability, lineage, and governance
  • Introduce and evolve best practices in data modeling, orchestration, testing, and monitoring
  • Mentor engineers across the team, driving technical excellence and helping scale our engineering culture
  • Identify and champion investments in platform scalability, reusability, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to design data solutions that enable rapid experimentation and innovation
We’re excited about you because you have…
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of technical leadership and hands-on implementation
  • Expertise in SQL and database fundamentals, with strong experience working with data lakes and warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Golang, or Java
  • Experience working with, designing, and implementing different APIs (e.g., REST, SQL, GraphQL) for systems
  • Knowledge of analytics tooling and the needs of downstream data consumers
  • Knowledge of distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark, Flink, Presto) and event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD for data infrastructure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to align stakeholders and influence data strategy
  • A passion for building high-quality data systems that deliver trust, performance, and insight
Nice to Haves
  • Experience building and scaling data platforms in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • Experience designing and scaling ELT/ETL frameworks with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or similar platforms
  • Exposure to data mesh concepts or domain-oriented data architecture
  • A systems mindset—comfortable thinking at both the architectural and implementation level
  • Hands-on experience with data observability tools and practices
