Role Summary
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead one of the client's core AI and platform engineering teams. Reporting to the CTO, you will oversee a high-performing group of 10-20 engineers, combining people management, technical strategy, and hands‑on execution. You will drive engineering culture, architectural excellence, product delivery, and talent growth in a dynamic, distributed startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, grow, and retain a high-performing engineering organization (10-20 people) across multiple locations.
- Provide technical leadership and define strategy with the CTO, covering architecture, infrastructure design, AI scalability, and reliability.
- Stay hands-on with system design, code reviews, and architectural decisions impacting quality and stability.
- Own the quality, reliability, and performance of the product, ensuring strong testing practices and operational excellence.
- Drive engineering processes, including sprint planning, technical reviews, postmortems, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Product Management and Sales to deliver launches, meet business metrics, and enable successful enterprise deployments.
- Engage with enterprise customers to design complex integrations with third‑party systems (e.g., Meta APIs, CRMs, and eCommerce platforms).
- Own hiring, development, and evaluation of engineers : give feedback, conduct reviews, and create growth plans.
- Cultivate emerging leaders, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation.
- Build systems, processes, and talent that scale beyond your direct team.
Requirements
- MS or BS in Computer Science.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in management or tech lead roles.
- Proven experience leading teams of 1020 engineers, ideally across distributed locations.
- Ability to set technical strategy and drive architectural decisions at scale.
- Strong knowledge of backend and AI systems : Python, AWS, Kafka, Postgres, DynamoDB, CI / CD practices.
- Experience with cross-functional teams (PM, Sales, Customer Success) to deliver major launches.
- Experience engaging directly with enterprise clients and integrating with third-party ecosystems.
- Strong leadership, empathy, and communication skills; able to deliver feedback constructively.

- Strong record of leading high-performing teams in fast-paced tech environments.
- Deep technical expertise with a hands‑on approach and understanding of system architecture and AI.
- Passion for building, scaling, and applying AI-driven systems (including LLMs) to real business use cases.
- Proven ability to establish engineering processes balancing speed, quality, and reliability.
- Excellent people management and mentorship skills.
- Ability to work across disciplines and operate amid ambiguity.
