A leading multinational energy company is seeking a Senior Technical Leader in Campinas, Brazil. This role is pivotal in driving engineering activities and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. The successful candidate will hold a Master's degree in Engineering and Business Administration, possess extensive technical expertise, and demonstrate leadership in managing complex projects while ensuring customer satisfaction and innovation. Proficiency in English and Portuguese is mandatory, with a preference for knowledge in French and Spanish.
The Senior Technical Leader leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business or is a recognized expert in a specialized area. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long‑term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) for Power Conversion Latam.
The LATAM Engineering Leader will lead systems products and services engineering activities.
Engineering on rotating machines, induction DC, synchronous PMM, synch reluctance and other topologies; as well as engineering integrated solutions, system design and integration power electronics, automation, switchboards and installation are part of the role.
The role is both operational and strategic demanding transformational leadership to create new business opportunities, turn‑around our non‑quality issues and overall Customer Experience.
The role requires focus towards growth on the LATAM region operation and he/she will leverage the GE network to drive product innovation, technology injections, structuring and cost‑out through tools and processes in the areas of power electronics automation, power systems, switchgears, rotor dynamics, vibration, electromagnetics, insulation, aero‑thermo structural and mechanical systems integration.
The LATAM Engineering Leader directs a functional area of a major activity. Executes projects with great customer engagement and trust. Translates concepts, considers strategic options, develops tactics and implements change. Creates programs responsive to external environment. Participates in cross‑functional business and cultural development.
Drives team performance to meet aggressive time and cost demands from our customers.
Develop, implement and achieve performance KPIs.
Develop a roadmap for building a world‑class products and solutions including electric machines, power electronics, switchgears, software and overall systems design capability.
Serve as technical expert in the technical community through demonstrated technical accomplishments including holding patents, component design, and systems design experience and strong knowledge of engineering design fundamentals.
Drive customer project execution and deliver on time and quality.
Lead and oversee quality engineering design execution and product safety; responsible for the oversight of the related sciences including materials and performance.
Provide guidance, leadership, mentoring and intervention as necessary to strengthen the discipline, quality, reliability and rigor of our engineering work.
Lead interactions with customers on new technology, supply chain and business teams.
Work with Power Conversion leadership to develop and build long‑term strategies.
Participate in execution of key ongoing technology programs and work closely with GRC and other GEPC engineering team.
Interact with P&L engineering and technology leaders across GE to accelerate deployment of modern electrical and mechanical design tools and methodologies.
Work with P&L product leadership to reshape the overall LATAM technical strategy and the organizational structure.
Provide leadership with high integrity and oversight of processes protecting intellectual property, export controlled and strategic technology.
Masters degree in Engineering and Business Administration.
English and Portuguese mandatory
Extensive business and technical experience in mechanical or electrical systems design.
Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in all constituent technology areas: rotating machines, large mechanical systems, thermal design, rotating machine testing and deployment.
Demonstrated industrial experience in relevant industry such as oil and gas, power generation, marine or mining.
Strong track record of customer focus and delivery of products and projects to customers.
Track record of driving technology strategy and change in a broader GE environment.
Strong communication skills.
Track record of leading a diverse global team
Evidence of effectiveness in complex multicultural technical matrix organization.
French and Spanish speaker
Prior experience with a focus on managing technical programs and designing and developing new products related to solving product issues; demonstrable experience of leading New Product Development (NPI) processes, Lean Principles and management methodologies.
Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills capable of influencing and driving a strategic change agenda across the organization. Change agent with strong credibility at all levels of the organization and ability to successfully manage multiple broad‑scope projects simultaneously. Strong oral & written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues. Six sigma / lean practitioner expertise is preferred.
Proven mentoring and coaching abilities demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.
