Position: Java Software Engineer (Backend Developer)

Location: Remote (Eastern Standard Time (EST) Hours)

Duration: 12-month contract + extensions

Must Haves:

• 6+ years of backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in Java, Springboot, Microservices, SQL/PostegreSQL
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Solid understanding of integration architecture and backend services
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Plusses:

• POS/Retail Experience
• Triaging/troubleshooting
• Familiarity with Jumpmind or similar POS Technology

Job Description:

Insight Global is hiring a Backend Developer to join our Transaction Team, supporting high impact integration and feature work within our clients POS ecosystem. This role centers on backend engineering with a strong focus on Java-based development, data processing, and fresh feature builds. The ideal candidate is a sharp, analytical engineer who can ramp up quickly and contribute to both new development and production support as needed. This role is primarily focused on new development (80‑90%) with occasional involvement in production issue resolution (10‑15%).
