Description

The Electrical Inspector will assist the Electrical Engineer MEP Lead or Resident Engineer in administering the operational functions of the day-to-day activities on the project. The Electrical Inspector will participate in review and approval of all submittals by the contractors and involves in the quality control and quality assurance.

Under the supervision of the project resident engineer or MEP Lead performs routine inspection monitoring tasks to confirm if proper construction supervision is being performed by others. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes standards and specifications. Document non-conformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist the Electrical Engineer or MEP Lead in performing the contractual duties on site.
  • Interface with the public especially residents and business owners adjacent to the work to mitigate the construction impacts.
  • Oversee and inspect all electrical & instrumentation work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
  • Follow-up with the contractor and support in coordinating with the utility authority regarding connections whenever required.
  • Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.
  • Monitors and coordinates all contractors activities for this discipline.
  • Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis.
  • Support the Electrical Engineer in reviewing construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
  • Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
  • Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work.
  • Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
  • Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
  • Ensures that materials received meet specifications and established standards of quality.
  • Organizes the accumulation of assigned discipline data for the final project turnover and report.
  • Initiates and maintains records back charge procedures progress reports etc. as required.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

To be successful in this role you will have to:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Min of 10 postgraduate years of experience and a min. of 7 years of similar work experience on large road/infrastructure projects.
  • Regional experience is preferred.
  • ADDC and ADM registration is preferred.
  • A professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
