Job summary
A leading organization in zoological care is seeking an experienced veterinarian to provide high-quality care for animals at Dubai Safari Park. The successful candidate will collaborate with staff, conduct health evaluations, and perform surgical procedures. This role requires a strong background in veterinary medicine with a minimum of five years' experience in exotic animal care while thriving in an emotionally demanding environment.
Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a zoological setting.
- Strong knowledge of exotic animal care and advanced diagnostic techniques.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and administer emergency treatment to injured or ill animals.
- Perform surgeries and health checks on animals.
- Support conservation and breeding programs at the park.

The role is responsible for providing high-quality care to animals under the supervision of the Head of Veterinary Hospital. This includes immobilizations, preventive medicine programs, diagnostic tests, procedures, and compassionate care to animals and their owners, along with other veterinary tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively with safari staff such as zookeepers, curators, and other colleagues within Dubai Safari Park. Attend weekly and monthly meetings of the Life and Science Division to stay informed.
- Diagnose and administer emergency treatment to injured or ill animals.
- Conduct postmortem studies and analyses.
- Perform daily health checks during rounds, observing the health and welfare of animals in the safari.
- Perform physical examinations, collect blood or other samples for diagnostics, and utilize ultrasound, radiography, endoscopy, and laparoscopy to determine the best treatment options.
- Prescribe medications, perform surgeries, prepare health certificates, and review animal diets and schedules.
- Support conservation efforts through in-situ and ex-situ captive breeding programs at Dubai Safari Park.
- Supervise and perform sedation, anesthesia, and all surgical activities within the park.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in a zoological setting with exotic animals.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in handling and restraining animals safely.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with exotic animals or specialized veterinary care.
- Knowledge of advanced diagnostic equipment and techniques.
- Proficiency in veterinary practice management software.
