To supervise and ensure the effective execution of daily, scheduled, and preventive maintenance activities for waste collection vehicles, equipment, and tools, achieving maximum fleet readiness, minimal downtime, and uninterrupted operational continuity. Oversee the technical team, enforce compliance with OEM standards and safety protocols, coordinate accident recovery, and manage workshop tools and spare parts inventory. Drive operational improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and service quality, with the ultimate aim of supporting reliable, cost-effective, and high-performance waste collection services.
Responsibilities
- Supervising Maintenance Operations: Oversee daily and preventive maintenance activities for vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure asset availability, reduce downtime, and maintain readiness in line with operational priorities.
- Supervising Technical Team: Provide direct supervision, technical guidance, and coaching to workshop technicians to ensure repair quality, adherence to OEM standards, and timely task completion.
- Supporting Operational Continuity: Coordinate with internal teams to prioritize repairs, respond to urgent maintenance needs, and align workshop activities with service requirements to avoid service disruptions.
- Upholding Safety and Compliance: Enforce compliance with HSE standards, regulatory policies, and dealership/OEM requirements through routine safety practices, audits, and accurate documentation of repairs and incidents.
- Driving Efficiency and Improvement: Monitor recurring faults, maintain tools and inventory, and identify process improvements to boost productivity, reduce costs, and enhance workshop performance.
- Operations Management: Supervise the execution of daily and preventive maintenance tasks for fleet vehicles and equipment, ensuring fleet readiness, minimizing downtime, and maintaining operational continuity.
- Supervise urgent repairs, accidents, and breakdowns, prioritizing critical repairs and ensuring alignment with field and transport teams, reducing service disruptions and ensuring timely resolution of operational issues.
- Provide technical guidance to the workshop team of technicians, including mechanics, electricians, and welders, to ensure maintenance tasks and proper repair of vehicles and waste management equipment are executed to OEM standards, meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical, electrical, and structural faults on fleet and waste management equipment, ensuring minimal downtime; escalate unresolved issues to the Workshop Executive for timely resolution and support diagnosing complex issues.
- Maintain adherence to OEM standards, dealership terms and conditions, repair quality, and safety protocols on the workshop floor, guiding technicians to meet required standards and warranty conditions.
- Perform accurate documentation of job cards and work orders, including time spent, parts used, and services performed, ensuring all records are updated and closed in a timely manner.
- Track warranty claims and collaborate with the Workshop Executive to validate and manage warranty and guarantee processes, ensuring compliance with dealership and OEM policies. Track recurring issues and collaborate with the Workshop Executive for preventive measures, and close work orders accurately.
- Maintain and monitor workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery to ensure they are in good working order and compliant with safety standards.
- Prepare and submit lists of required spare parts to the Workshop Executive, ensuring timely availability and inventory management for scheduled and emergency repairs. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of critical parts, reducing downtime caused by shortages.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and actively participate in safety audits to maintain compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate responses to major and minor accidents involving vehicles and equipment by liaising with emergency service providers, roadside recovery teams, external repair workshops, and Operations team to facilitate timely recovery, ensure accurate repair follow-up, and minimize service disruptions.
- Ensure documentation of incidents, repairs, and claims to maintain accurate records, support data-driven decision-making, and uphold operational continuity.
- Coordinate with Operations teams to align repair schedules with operational needs and ensure the timely availability of vehicles and equipment, minimizing service disruptions.
- Enforce 5S practices (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient workshop environment that enhances productivity and reduces downtime.
- Deliver daily reports to the Workshop Executive via ERP/business systems on job status, technician performance, repair backlogs, and ongoing maintenance efforts, ensuring efficient resource utilization and timely resolution of issues.
- Assume full responsibilities of the Workshop Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of operations, decision-making, and compliance with maintenance, safety, and performance standards.
- Support in responding to inquiries, service requests, and inspections from municipal entities and regulatory authorities, ensuring accurate reporting, timely coordination, and compliance with local waste management regulations and standards.
- Maintain compliance with client Group’s and client’s organization-wide and departmental policies; support a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement within the organization and department.
- Maintain strict adherence to Crisis Management policies (Health, Safety, and Environment, Risk Management, Business Continuity), legal regulations, and promote a safety-conscious culture through operational discipline, safe practices, and effective crisis management to ensure a secure working environment.

Job Requirements
Qualification
- A minimum of a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline.
- Preferably, a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline.
- Preferably, professional certification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline, demonstrating technical competence in vehicle systems, maintenance operations, and workshop processes essential for managing workshop performance and ensuring fleet readiness.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in workshop operation, fleet maintenance or technical supervision or related discipline, preferably within waste management, transportation, utilities, or service industry, within public or private sector organizations, focusing on vehicle readiness, workshop coordination, and maintenance execution.
Experience necessary to ensure effective performance in this role includes:
- Proven experience in leading maintenance teams, overseeing the execution of daily, scheduled, and preventive maintenance activities for fleet vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure high asset availability, minimal downtime, and operational continuity.
- Strong technical background in fault diagnosis, with hands-on experience identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical, and structural issues, supporting accident recovery, and escalating complex problems to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and guide technician performance, ensuring maintenance quality, adherence to OEM standards, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Proficient in using ERP/business systems and maintenance management systems, with experience in creating, updating, and closing job cards and work orders to ensure accurate records, operational transparency, audit readiness, and data-driven decision-making.
