A leading educational institution in Sharjah is looking for an AV Technician to manage and support audio/visual requirements for lectures and events. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience with AV systems and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Audio/Visual Technology. Strong bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English is essential for effective communication and training within the university environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and test audio and video equipment for lectures, conferences, seminars and events.
Ensure the smooth operation of microphones, projectors, speakers, video conferencing systems and other AV equipment during events.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AV systems during events or classes.
Regular inspection, maintenance, and calibration of AV equipment to ensure functionality.
Maintain an inventory of AV equipment, ensuring all items are logged and tracked for regular usage, repair, or replacement.
Perform routine cleaning and servicing of microphones, cameras, projectors, and other AV hardware.
Provide technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students on the use of AV equipment and software.
Assist in setting up video conferencing systems for remote lectures or meetings.
Collaborate with event planners to ensure AV requirements for conferences, webinars, and other university events are met.
Manage AV setups for classroom instruction, ensuring clear audio and visual delivery to the audience.
Specialized Tasks
Record lectures, seminars, or events, ensuring high-quality audio and video capture.
Edit videos as required for publishing online (e.g., university website, YouTube channels, or internal platforms).
Set up and manage live streaming of events, ensuring proper camera angles, audio clarity and streaming quality.
Operate and manage sound mixing boards for large events, ensuring sound clarity and appropriate volume levels.
Set up and monitor wireless microphones, mixers, amplifiers, and other audio equipment to avoid feedback and other issues.
Work with IT departments to ensure AV systems integrate seamlessly with university IT infrastructure (e.g., learning management systems, video conferencing tools).
Manage content display systems in large venues and classrooms.
Responsibilities / Additional Tasks
Stay updated on emerging AV technologies and techniques, ensuring the university's systems remain modern and effective.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Audio/Visual Technology, Information Technology, Media Production, or Electronics or a related field.
Proficient in both Arabic and English, verbally and in writing.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting AV equipment (such as projectors, video conferencing systems etc) within a university or educational institution.
