Roles & Responsibilities

In general, the primary purpose of the job is:

  • To provide effective engineering and maintenance services covering Railway subsystems “Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system and telecom systems”.
  • Primary point of contact for customer technical queries, incident, failures… for Level 3 & above investigations;
  • To provide technical support to the User/Customer, undertaking technical tasks and providing answers to technical queries.
  • Investigate the faults & restore and ensure meeting the contractual SLAs
  • Primary point of contact for customer technical queries not fielded by FSEs, technical advice on modification standards, component part numbers, and support equipment;
  • Primary point of contact for the Project FSEs;
  • Ensure that fault investigation actions are undertaken;
  • Address technical concession requests;
  • Provide support to internal and external progress reporting;
  • Provide technical data and analyses on request to support the DRACAS process;
  • Co-ordinate or undertake (as required) technical support activities at Customer/User sites;
  • Identify Technical Publications update requirements, and manage and co-ordinate the closure of unsatisfactory feature reports;
  • Co-ordinate requests for validation and issue of Technical Instructions, and compilation of Technical Instructions;
  • Support/Represent Project Management (as required) at Customer progress reviews and Management Reviews;
  • Attend, support and facilitate Team Meetings;
  • Participate in training development and planning activities as identified;
  • According to O&M manuals, replace faulty AFC equipment and coordinate with Warehouse for spares in/out activities;
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records of AFC system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system;
  • Perform shift and emergency duties when required;
  • Conducting assessments of Automatic Fare Collection system performance in revenue protection, data accuracy and equipment operations
  • Conform to Company quality procedures and standard practices;
  • Ensure that any product safety requirements are not compromised by work carried out and that all local safety procedures are adhered to;
  • Adhere to relevant Company and Local Health and Safety procedures and maintain vigilance within the workplace to ensure that the working environment remains safe at all times.
Work Experience, Qualification, Certification & Educational Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Business or equivalent experience.
  • Communicate with other departments within their company and customers on a regular basis, with good both oral and written communication skills.
  • With excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong technically subsystem knowledgeable on Hitachi Rail GTS products.
  • 8 years and above in the ticketing system (AFC).
  • Dubai Metro system deployed is a plus.
