Tech Lab Coordinator (Perfume/Cosmetics)

Our client is seeking a Tech Lab Coordinator to support fragrance development operations and ensure the smooth execution of sample preparation and testing. The Tech Lab Coordinator will be responsible for compounding, evaluating, and documenting fragrance samples, while upholding strict safety and technical standards within the lab environment. This role acts as a vital link between creative and operational teams, ensuring timely delivery, precise formulation, and systematic archiving of samples.

The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, foundational chemistry knowledge, and excellent time management skills, working closely with internal stakeholders such as perfumers, evaluators, and project coordinators to meet project demands efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately compound fragrance formulas based on instructions from the evaluator or perfumer, using scales and measuring tools in compliance with standard lab protocols.
  • Prepare various fragrance applications (EDP, EDT, oils, candles, body care, etc.) using alcohol, solvents, and bases as required.
  • Label, batch, and pack samples for internal use or client delivery, ensuring quality and consistency.
Lab Operations & Maintenance
  • Ensure all lab equipment (scales, mixers, pipettes, GC instruments, etc.) is cleaned, calibrated, and functioning properly.
  • Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and modifications in physical or digital lab notebooks.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, solvents, packaging, and lab supplies, issuing purchase requests when needed.
Quality Control Support
  • Conduct basic physical checks on fragrance submissions (e.g., color, phase separation, odor evolution).
  • Assist in stability testing and shelf‑life observations for ongoing fragrance projects.
  • Participate in batch validation, comparisons, and benchmark testing.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene standards within the laboratory, following best practices when handling raw materials and flammable substances.
  • Ensure proper storage and disposal of chemicals in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with evaluators, perfumers, and the sales team to ensure sample readiness meets project timelines.
  • Coordinate with the operations and quality teams to align lab work with product development requirements and client expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with logistics and supply chain teams for sample dispatch coordination.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Hands‑on experience in a fragrance, cosmetics, or chemical laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of fragrance raw materials, compounding techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow complex formulas with precision and consistency.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years in a technical or lab assistant role in the fragrance, cosmetics, or chemical sector.
  • Experience with sample preparation and record keeping in a regulated environment.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow strict formulation protocols.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple sample requests, timelines, and priorities.
  • Familiarity with weighing and lab equipment (e.g., precision balances, mixers, viscometers).
  • Basic understanding of MS Office (Excel for logs and formula tracking).
