Missions / Main Duties

• Oversee all TBM tunnelling activities, including excavation, lining installation, ground management, and logistics.
• Provide expert knowledge on TBM systems, operation, and maintenance throughout all phases of tunnel construction.
• Review and approve tunnelling method statements, construction schedules, and risk assessments for TBM operations.
• Coordinate with designers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues related to TBM tunnelling.
• Monitor real-time TBM operational data and performance, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant international tunnelling standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Lead and mentor site teams in executing tunnelling works to meet quality and safety targets.
• Attend site meetings, interface workshops, and provide weekly progress reports to Project Management Consultant (PMC) leadership.
• Manage tunnel construction risks, such as ground water ingress, settlement, and unforeseen geotechnical conditions.
• Support in tender reviews, contractor selection, and procurement of TBM equipment and consumables.
• Implement best practices in sustainability, safety, and cost-optimization in TBM tunnelling.

Profile / Skills

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.

Background:

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in major tunnel construction projects, with at least 10 years in TBM tunnelling.
• Proven track record on large-scale infrastructure/rail projects, preferably in high-speed rail, metro, or similar.
• International experience in similar projects in the Middle East will be a strong advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of modern TBM technology, tunnel systems, and associated ground treatment methods.
• Sound understanding of geotechnical investigations, tunnelling risk management, and mitigation strategies.
• Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.
• Fluent in English (knowledge of Arabic is a plus).
