Wood is recruiting for a Senior Project Controls Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit to support one of our client projects in Dubai, with occasional trips to Iraq. This role is a full‑time office‑based position in Dubai, UAE with travel requirements.

EPC Project involves the upgrade of produced water, wash water, and fire‑fighting systems across all the Rumaila degassing stations. The project will deliver compliant, reliable systems through a combination of repair, upgrade, and replacement activities, aligned with the client’s strategy.

Key Objectives
- Provide the Project Management with accurate monthly cost and progress reports incorporating early warning, forecast completions, critical path and trend analyses.
- Accountable for managing Main Contract commercial issues, ensuring all work is performed without compromise to quality and in line with the company’s procedures.
- Maintain high standard of safety, advising the project team on cost control, planning, contract compliance, tracking progress, and reporting against actual cost.
- Assist in the change management process with project leaders and contractors.
- Review project cost estimates and schedules; coordinate routine progress reporting.
- Assist Cost Engineers in preparing and updating weekly and monthly project cost reports.
- Track and evaluate PO and subcontract cost reporting and invoicing; participate in reporting on process and cost.
- Develop a suitable work breakdown structure covering the project requirements and scope of works.
- Develop, baseline, update, and maintain detailed project schedules for various phases of project execution including design development, construction, pre‑commissioning, and startup.
- Coordinate with client representatives, team members, contractors, and subcontractors to consider all project requirements.
- Provide training, mentoring, and ongoing project controls guidance to project team members.
- Establish and manage invoicing procedures and supervise proper implementation.
- Support the development of the Project Controls team members; identify and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement of project performance and company operations.

Expected / Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience).
- Experience working with multinational and multicultural project teams – strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in the Middle East preferred.
- Experience leading a Project Controls team with the ability to manage a team.
- Expert in writing reports; commercially and contractually aware and able to manage budgets.
- Familiar with project controls systems.
- Good oral and communication skills; able to supervise and delegate.
- Strong understanding of cost management, change control, planning & risk analysis & management.
- Excellent understanding of earned‑value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what‑if scenarios.
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera and other scheduling software, including logic, CPM analysis, resource loading and levelling.
