Field Service Engineering work focuses on providing technical advice to customers, including commissioning, installing, and testing products and equipment, as well as identifying and resolving complex issues during start-up.
Represent the Service Engineering function at project and customer meetings, contributing to the creation and implementation of the project execution philosophy and plan.
Support continuous improvement of project processes, products, and system design through lessons learned feedback.
Assist Project Managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.). Manage implementation of design and commissioning changes as per change management processes and collaborate with other teams to solve challenging problems.
Create work plans for your area of responsibility and proactively manage tasks to deliver on time, on quality, and at targeted cost.
Conduct real-time risk and opportunity assessments during service engineering activities to ensure safe implementation and identify potential variation requests to support contract claims. Report any contract, quality, program, or cost issues early, along with recommendations for resolution.
Act as Hitachi Energy’s representative for service engineering activities on projects, ensuring professional interactions with customers. Interface with customers and external providers for approval of plant acceptance criteria, closure of open issues, and acceptance tests. Coordinate site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification.
Manage external organizations providing equipment, systems, or services to the Service Engineering team (e.g., issue permits to work, provide guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices, accept completed work).
Follow and provide feedback on standard processes and tools. Ensure implementation of agreed procedures so that all site activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
Prepare project documentation such as schedules, SAT, MoS, RA, site visit reports, RCA, etc., in coordination with TL & PM. Prepare design documentation, schematics, calculations, and IED configurations as per project requirements.
Perform modifications, extensions, and upgrade works, including scheme checks, system power-up, component tests, final setting implementation, end-to-end tests, signal tests, SAT, system integration support, communication verification, and energization checks.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance work and obtain approvals from customers for Service Engineering activities on control and protection systems.
Follow and implement safety rules on project sites according to regulations and provide proactive coordination and reporting to the Service Engineering Team Leader.
You will be ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

A Master / bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical engineering.
5 years’ experience as Protection engineer with commissioning experience and customer approvals of related systems and products.
Thorough knowledge and experience of Substation Control and Protection Systems for EHV, HV and MV systems including protection philosophies of busbar, line, transformer, reactor, capacitor, coupler, section, etc.
In-depth product knowledge of both Hitachi Energy and competitor IEDs and thorough knowledge of control and interlocking logics in substations.
Knowledge & experience on MS Office, IET, ITT, PCM, Mincom, Digs, etc and analytical and strategic approach and high customer orientation.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
