Senior Highway Design Engineer

Dubai, UAE

In this role you will Complete a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within one discipline.

You will be engaged and responsible for wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, especially related to design of Major Road schemes such as large interchanges, directional and semi-ridectional highway links and loops, signalized intersection improvements, by applying latest engineering techniques / technologies and analysing within highway discipline in coordination with other infrastructure disciplines. You will apply advancedengineering techniques and analyses which will involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications, predominantly a combination of Bentley Microstation and Autodesk Civil 3D.

Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locationsis expected.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
• Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
• Provides support for other engineering activities as required.
• May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
• May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate size project.
• Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower level Engineers working on the same project.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What will be your responsibilities?

• Performing complex engineering tasks such as developing options for complicated road schemes, major grade-separated road crossings, in the most efficient and accurate engineering manner.
• Extracting engineering information from CAD drawings.
• and designing 3D models using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads,.
• Preparing engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
• Completing a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
• Preparing detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
• Reviewing supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
• Preparing and issuing specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Providing technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
• May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
• May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
• Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from a recognized University.
• Minimum 10 years experience in highway design with thorough knowledge of Highway Design Software.
• Excellent command of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and ACC BIM workflow.
• Experience working with Bentley MicroStation
• Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software.
• Good written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project team.
• Ability to guide and motivate and train junior engineers within the team.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Preferred to have experience in Dubai/UAE.
• Experience with Dubai RTA projects or simlar is desirable.
