Responsibilities

  • Primes dialyzer and bloodlines.
  • Records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
  • Oversees the dialysis treatment from start to finish.
  • Cannulates accesses.
  • Cleans and dresses permanent and temporary catheters.
  • Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients.
  • Identifies irregular dialysis reactions and notifies medical team.
  • Secures blood works.
  • Teaches patients how to manage their illness.
  • Maintains medical inventory.
  • Provides pre and post procedure care to patients.
  • Conducts home visit assessment for home hemodialysis admission.
  • Follows Nephrologist orders.
  • Conducts patient assessments when indicated.
  • Recommends changes in treatment based on patient needs.
  • Facilitates communication between patients and team.
  • Oversees and directs dialysis technicians.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Oversees the dialysis treatment from start to finish.

  • Cannulates accesses.

  • Cleans and dresses permanent and temporary catheters.

  • Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients and interprets and records information.

  • Identifies irregular dialysis reactions and notifies appropriate medical team members.

  • Secures blood works.

  • Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medications, if needed.

  • Maintains medical inventory.

  • Provides pre and post procedure care to patients.

  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.

  • Conducting home visit assessment for home hemodialysis admission.

  • Following Nephrologist orders.

  • Conducting assessment of a patient when indicated.

  • Recommending changes in the treatment based on the current needs of patient.

  • Facilitating Communication between the patient and family on one side and the training team on the other.

  • Cooperate with and provide oversight and directions to the dialysis technicians.

  • Participating in continuous quality improvement activities.
