Job Purpose:
The Project Manager – Solar Energy is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of solar projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing stakeholders, coordinating project teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving efficiency in solar project installations.
1. Project Planning & Execution:
Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and budgets.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of solar energy projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external contractors to ensure smooth execution.
Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and technical challenges.
2. Technical Oversight & Compliance:
Ensure all solar installations comply with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
Supervise site assessments, system design, and engineering solutions for solar PV projects.
Work closely with design and engineering teams to optimize system performance.
Monitor and ensure adherence to quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Negotiate contracts, review vendor proposals, and oversee procurement of solar components.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, utility companies, and key industry players.
3. Financial & Budget Management:
Manage project budgets, control costs, and ensure financial accountability.
Track project expenses, prepare financial reports, and ensure alignment with profitability goals.
Optimize resources to maximize efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality.
Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring clear communication and role delegation.
Conduct regular site visits, progress meetings, and performance evaluations.
Ensure teams follow safety protocols and industry best practices at all times.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
5+ years of experience in managing solar energy projects, including design, installation, and commissioning.
Experience in utility-scale and rooftop solar projects is a plus.
Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and grid integration.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
Understanding of local and international solar energy regulations and codes.
Familiarity with power purchase agreements (PPAs) and net metering policies.
Hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
