Summary

The Pediatric Endocrinology Consultant focuses on diagnosing and managing hormonal and metabolic disorders in children and adolescents within a multidisciplinary, patient-centered team. The role combines specialized outpatient and inpatient care, participation in innovative specialty clinics, and involvement in education and clinical research.

Education / Qualification Required:
  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland
  • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
  • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, growth and puberty concerns, and metabolic conditions.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations, follow-up care, and long-term management of chronic endocrine diseases.
  • Order, interpret, and oversee diagnostic investigations such as hormone assays, imaging studies, and dynamic endocrine testing.
  • Develop individualized treatment and management plans tailored to each child’s condition.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, dietitians, geneticists, surgeons, and other specialists to provide integrated care.
  • Manage emergency endocrine conditions such as diabetic ketoacidosis, adrenal crisis, and severe hypoglycemia.
  • Educate and counsel children and families on disease management, treatment adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior doctors, residents, and fellows in pediatric endocrinology.
  • Participate in departmental clinical research, academic activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
