Job description

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Pastry Sous Chef to support the Pastry Chef in leading the pastry team.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical ability, a passion for dessert innovation, and experience managing operations in a high-paced pastry environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Pastry Chef in overseeing daily pastry production and staff supervision.
  2. Prepare and decorate desserts, cakes, and pastries to the highest standards.
  3. Help develop and test new recipes and seasonal items.
  4. Manage mise en place, stock rotation, and inventory planning.
  5. Enforce hygiene, safety, and HACCP protocols at all times.
  6. Train and guide junior pastry staff and commis to ensure consistency.
  7. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
  8. Take charge of the pastry section in the absence of the Pastry Chef.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 4-5 years of pastry kitchen experience, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Pastry Arts, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • HACCP Certified with a solid understanding of food safety regulations.
  • Expertise in baking techniques, chocolate work, and plated dessert presentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Creative, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet production deadlines.
