Overview
Senior Pastry Chef at Wakame, a restaurant associated with Sofitel Dubai Midtown. Wakame draws inspiration from Tokia's Ginza district, Chengdu's foodie scene, the hills of Nepal, and Colombo's street food, to offer extended eastern flavors. We are seeking a knowledgeable Senior Pastry Chef to join our team to demonstrate creative thinking, development, and passion for the culinary arts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all pastry items as required by the restaurant.
- Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menu.
- Prepare, clean, and arrange ingredients for use in the kitchen.
- Work closely with management on the dessert and bread menu.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge about bread making and ingredients.
- Perform administrative duties to maintain an efficient workspace.
- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients (flour, sugar, etc.) and place orders within budget.
- Check quality of products and condition of tools and equipment used for food preparation.
- Keep a lean and orderly workstation and comply with health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker or related role.
- Excellent attention to detail and creative thinking.
- Willingness to renew professional knowledge.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hygiene concepts, cooking and baking techniques, and nutrition.
- Working understanding of cooking with ingredient constraints (gluten-free breads, sugar-free, etc.).
- Certification in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field.
- Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings when required.
- Japanese restaurant experience will be an advantage.
Job Details
- Job Types: Full Time, Permanent, Contract.
- Salary: AED7,000.00 per month.
- COVID-19 considerations: All personnel should wear a mask, areas are sterilized regularly, all team members should be vaccinated; wellness and safety requirements remain in line with regulatory demands in UAE.
