Job description

Our Transactional team is seeking to hire a Paralegal.

Successful applicants should have gained practical paralegal experience from a major UAE based law firm. The role sits with the corporate reorganisation team but is expected to work with the other transactional teams such as M&A, Capital Markets, Funds, and Private Equity.

The role will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Liaising and assisting with setting up companies, including where applicable, with government authorities such as the DET, ADED, Ministry of Economy, DIFC, ADGM and other free zones such as JAFZA, DAFZA, DDA, Central Bank, Chamber of Commerce, and other governmental authorities.
  • Take main responsibility for corporate maintenance tasks for a large number of clients.
  • Undertake legal due diligence for M&A and corporate reorganisation projects.
  • Performing record searches with government authorities.
  • Liaising with and providing instructions to PROs and/or any other concerned personnel. May include accompanying PROs for certain matters.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, such as Application forms, Articles of Association, Board and Shareholder resolutions and powers of attorney.
  • Prepare clients correspondence in the form of letters, memos and emails.
  • Research legislation.
  • General research including in media, journals and publications.
  • Work under the supervision of associates and partners.
  • Any other tasks as & when assigned by the management.

Key Skills and Experience Required

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate all or the majority of the following:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a corporate paralegal role in the UAE (Candidates with no UAE experience will not be considered).
  • Experience with a leading international or a major regional firm.
  • Excellent Arabic and English communication skills (fluency in reading, writing, speaking and ability to translate and/or review translations).
  • Initiative and proactivity.
  • Maturity.
  • Strong service orientation - a "client first" culture.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with authorities and clients and to take responsibility for those relationships.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to adapt style as required.
  • Ability to work well in both a team and individually.
  • A keenness to learn.
