Overview
Painting Superintendent
Responsibilities
- In conjunction with HSES and the Group Painting Manager, ensure that all aspects of blasting and painting across all projects are executed safely and in compliance with HSES responsibilities.
- Attend weekly management HSES walkthroughs.
- Assist and work closely with the project construction team with project tracking system schedule management and any day-to-day coating requirements.
- Conduct TBT7s on safety, productivity, quality issues with the painting supervision on a weekly basis.
- Ensure that painting resources are fed into the weekly manpower forecast via the Construction Manager and the Group Painting Manager as per project schedule.
- Monitor actual man-hours against budgeted man-hours in the work pack (where applicable) and take appropriate steps to correct overruns with discussions with the relevant supervision.
- Update the Construction Manager on painting activities and schedules in the morning construction meetings.
- Attending weekly Project meeting and Engineering / Procurement interface meetings.
- Liaise with PM and CM with reference to project painting issues.
- Coordinating with painting supervisors for solving all technical issues at site.
- Liaise with QC coordinator/ Inspectors and assist with monitoring quality related issues.
- Coordinating with Subcontractors for the execution of subcontract works and monitor their progress.
- Preparation of project related materials requisitions.
- Co-ordinate / liaise with other Production / Project Managers and Engineers as required.
- Preparation of technical queries and site queries for client approval.
- Coordinate with painting QC supervisor in the preparation of ITP and method statements for project coating application.
- Understand the ITP and communicate this with the blasting and painting supervision for all projects.
- Preparation of paint strategy plan based on project schedule agreed with PMT.
- Input into the man hours for the work packs at the planning stage. These plans, man hours and responsibilities are passed to, and understood by the supervision and charge hands.
- Conduct a readiness review meeting with painting supervisors at the start of the project to define the manpower, the equipment, consumables, and materials required to execute the project within the budget.
- Ensure that all painting equipment are in line with the maintenance schedule and ready for the coming projects.
- Ensure manpower requirements, shortfalls or skills are reported to the Group Painting Manager.
- Preparation of a defined painting Scope of Work for any specified project related to local and international clients.
- Liaise with other trades to ensure project schedule adherence.
- Ensure strong daily and weekly planning is in place and the supervision are clear on their assignments, allowing for adequate allocation of tasks to the workforce to keep them working at maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
- Painting equipment to be planned during bid stage, equipment needs, equipment capacities and durations.
- Manage the supervision, charge hands, blasters, and painters to deliver first time right quality with minimal or zero QC comments during inspection.
- Possess strong initiative around decision making and ability and to provide technical solutions for all blasting and painting related issues.

- Painting Superintendent to coach supervision and charge hands through experience. Training gaps should be highlighted to the Group Painting Manager after using the PTO process and LATC assistance.
