Job summary

A leading airport operations company is seeking an Airside Operations Officer (AOO) to ensure a safe and serviceable airside environment. The AOO will support the Duty Manager, respond to incidents, and maintain communication with stakeholders to execute operational plans. Candidates should have a secondary school certificate and 4+ years of airport operations experience. Effective communication skills and a valid UAE Driving License are mandatory. Job description

The Airside Operations Officer (AOO) is responsible for providing excellent customer service to airlines and key stakeholders by ensuring the airside environment is safe, secure, and serviceable at all times. The role forms part of the 24-hour Airside Operations Team and supports the Duty Manager Airside (DMA) in maintaining aerodrome safety and operational standards in compliance with the Aerodrome Certificate issued by the GCAA, along with applicable legislation and regulations.

The AOO is required to respond to incidents, accidents, and emergencies in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan, while maintaining effective communication with customers, stakeholders, senior management, government authorities, and emergency services to ensure operational plans and activities are executed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Comply at all times with company management systems, policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Abu Dhabi Environment, Health and Safety Management System.
  • Support senior officers in ensuring the aerodrome operates safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct movement area inspections and wildlife inspections in accordance with approved procedures and hazard management plans.
  • Enforce airside safety and ensure compliance by all airside users.
  • Deliver daily airside operational activities and accurately record all events in the duty log at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers and stakeholders during normal operations, emergencies, and contingency situations.
  • Oversee contractor activities on the airfield and ensure all works in progress comply with work permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Integrate Safety Management System (SMS) elements into daily operations.
  • Participate in shift briefings and apply a “plan, do, check, review” approach to continuous improvement.
  • Respond to and report all aerodrome incidents and accidents in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Provide escort services for police, VIP vehicles, ambulances, and contractors as required.
  • Provide aircraft “follow-me” services when required.
  • Participate in all airport emergencies in line with the Airport Emergency Plan.
  • Obtain and maintain all required training and familiarization to support business requirements and aerodrome certification.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Airside Operations management.

Scope of Airside Operations includes (but is not limited to):

  • Movement area inspections and operations
  • Airside safety enforcement
  • Audit and inspection processes
  • Aircraft turnaround activities
  • Accident and incident investigation and reporting
  • Oversight of third-party ground handlers and service providers
  • Adverse weather operations
  • Obstacle limitation surface safeguarding and habitat management (up to 13 km from the airport)
  • 24-hour aerodrome safety coverage
  • Disabled aircraft recovery operations
  • Maintenance of accurate records and operational reports

Requirements and Skills

Education and Qualifications

  • Secondary school certificate and/or equivalent aviation diploma
  • Valid UAE Driving License

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in airport operations
  • Experience conducting aerodrome inspections
  • Experience operating within the airside environment
  • Knowledge of GCAA regulations and statutory legal requirements
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
