The Mechanical Foreman plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the STP. By supervising daily maintenance activities, guiding the maintenance team, and coordinating closely with engineers, this role keeps critical mechanical systems running reliably. Effective planning, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety standards help prevent breakdowns, minimize downtime, and maintain the overall performance of the plant.

The Mechanical Foreman ensures that work is executed to high standards, protecting both operational efficiency and workplace safety.

Responsibilities
  • The Group Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance activities in the assigned area to ensure that all work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • He will guide a team consisting of a mechanic and a helper in carrying out the tasks allocated as per the daily plan.
  • He must arrange and plan the required spare parts, tools, and consumables for the work by coordinating with the concerned engineer.
  • He will conduct task risk assessments, prepare risk mitigation plans in coordination with the engineer, and brief the team accordingly.
  • He will troubleshoot routine issues that arise on-site and ensure that safety rules are strictly followed at all times.
  • He will coordinate daily tasks based on priorities and plans, making necessary adjustments in cases of breakdowns, emergencies, weather conditions, or personnel changes.
  • He will delegate responsibilities to technicians and team members as needed.
  • He will emphasize the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment, and provide training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures.
  • He will work to resolve conflicts or miscommunications quickly and professionally.
  • He will provide daily reporting of work status to the engineer.
  • He will lead the maintenance of STP facilities, including screens and wash compactors, grit extraction systems, blowers, aerators, etc.
  • He will build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
  • He must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
  • Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of the tools, techniques, and terminology associated with the mechanical trade.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety procedures in a plant environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
