Job description

The Mason is responsible for performing skilled masonry and repair work including maintenance of walls, floors, tiling, plastering and concrete surfaces across the hotel property. The role ensures that all masonry tasks are carried out safely, efficiently and with high quality to uphold the hotel's standards of upkeep and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all masonry work including block work, plastering, tiling, stone work, grouting and repair of concrete structures.
  • Repair and maintain floors, walls, ceilings, tiles, pavements and other surfaces as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and corrective actions on masonry-related elements.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from other departments including guest rooms and public areas.
  • Assist in renovation and minor construction projects as per hotel requirements.
  • Ensure all work is carried out with proper safety measures and PPE.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Coordinate with other trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting) as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used and time spent.
  • Report any major repair needs or potential hazards to the Engineering Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a mason in a hotel facility maintenance or construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, tools and techniques used in masonry.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or drawings.
  • Good physical condition and stamina.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Trade certification or diploma in masonry or a related field is an advantage.
