A leading marine operations company in Dubai is seeking a Dock Operations Manager to lead and oversee dock operations, ensuring the safety and efficiency of all ship lifting and transferring operations. Key responsibilities include managing dock staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with operational policies. Candidates should have strong leadership skills and a background in marine engineering or operations management.
Appraisal, planning, execution, monitoring and reporting of the entire marine operation involving the Shiplift, Ship Transfer Carriage as well as Dry berths.
Lead and manage the Dock Operations section including the Dockmasters, ship lift operators, planners and dockworkers.
Familiar with the duties Senior Manager - Operations, as it may be required to act in their capacity in their absence.
Responsible and accountable for the operation and condition of the ship lifts, ship cradles, cradle towing vehicles and any other facility, equipment or tool used for the lifting and transferring of vessels on the dry berths.
Responsible and accountable for all ship lifting and transferring operations including the safety and efficiency of the operations as well as adherence to the policies, processes and procedures.
Responsible and accountable for the accurate documentation of all services provided relating to the docking operations including accurate data entry, review and submission to the billing team for invoicing purposes.
Responsible and accountable for the effective utilization of human, financial and physical resources including the performance and due diligence of sub-ordinates in performing their duties safely and efficiently.
Able to take over, and oversee the Dock Master in taking over, the responsibility of the vessel from the Captain or Pilot once the line has been secured between the vessel and the ship lift or when any part of the vessel has passed the entrance into the ship lift.
Able to perform, and oversee the Dock Master in performing, calculations and prepare docking plans and block settings based on the principles of vessel stability, naval architecture, and marine engineering to safely distribute the load over the wooden blocks, cradle structure, wheels, rails and platforms within the capacity limitations such that no damage is done on the vessel or the equipment.
Able to chair, and oversee the Dock Master in chairing, the docking conferences with the vessel crew, ship repair contractor, Harbour Master and other consultants to go over docking drawings and records, agree on the desired list, trim and draught at the time of docking and discuss weight control and distribution, line handling arrangements, sequence of events and diving safety.
