The Machinist is responsible for operating machine tools and performing precision machining, fabrication, and repair of components to support maintenance activities. The role ensures that all work is performed in compliance with SABIC standards, engineering specifications, and HSE policies.
1. Machining & Fabrication
Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machine tools to fabricate or repair components for plant equipment.
Perform precision machining, drilling, cutting, and finishing of metal and mechanical parts as required.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance support by fabricating replacement parts when required.
2. Technical Interpretation & Quality Control
Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and technical specifications to produce accurate components.
Conduct thorough inspections of machined parts to ensure compliance with SABIC quality and engineering standards.
Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of all machinery and workshop tools.
3. Safety & Compliance
Follow SABIC HSE procedures, including Permit-to-Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and the mandatory use of PPE.
Maintain full compliance with SABIC Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards at all times.
Demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices and risk assessment in all machining activities.
4. Documentation & Coordination
Maintain accurate records of machining activities, materials used, and maintenance reports.
Coordinate with maintenance engineers and supervisors to ensure the timely completion of machining work.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping in workshops and work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.
Technical Diploma or Certification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
High level of precision and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
