Overview

Sous Chef

Our client, an Abu Dhabi based F&B firm, is seeking a Sous Cook to be part of their rear of house operations. The candidate will support the head cook or executive cook in the general operation of the kitchen area and assist with menu planning and food preparation, including specialty or seasonal offerings.

Responsibilities
  • Support the head cook or executive cook in the general operation of the kitchen.
  • Monitor the activities of the kitchen brigade and coordinate work flow and routines of kitchen team members.
  • Prepare the food selection and prepare food items, including specialty or seasonal offerings.
  • Estimate needed materials and submit purchase orders accordingly.
  • Ensure that all kitchen operations comply with food health and safety regulations.
  • Educate staff and introduce new cooking practices to the team.
  • Prepare and cook meals as required and manage any issues that arise quickly and effectively.
  • Any other duties as assigned to support smooth kitchen operation.
Qualifications
  • 5 to 10 years of experience, at least 2 years as a cook in a similar role.
  • Experience handling various foods; Italian cuisine is a benefit.
  • Experience managing other cooks and chefs; strong kitchen management skills.
  • Leadership and decision-making abilities, good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan use of time and resources efficiently and work under pressure.
  • Ability to function as part of a team and coordinate with other departments as needed.
