Librarian

We are a prestigious library located in Dubai, UAE seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian to join our team. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization and management of our library's collection, as well as providing excellent customer service to our patrons.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the acquisition, cataloguing, and organization of books, journals, and other library materials
- Develop and maintain efficient systems for locating and accessing materials
- Assist patrons with finding and checking out materials
- Conduct research and provide reference services to patrons
- Manage library budget and make purchasing decisions for new materials
- Develop and implement programs to promote literacy and encourage library usage
- Train library staff on new systems and procedures as needed
- Maintain accurate records of library usage statistics
- Collaborate with other departments within the institution to provide resources for their specific needs

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a library setting
- Extensive knowledge of cataloguing systems (e.g. Dewey Decimal System) and experience using library databases
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience managing budgets, implementing new technologies in a library setting, or promoting literacy through outreach programs.

This is a part-time position without accommodation provided. Candidates must have their own valid visa for working in Dubai.
